Rihanna, 35, gave a stunning performance at the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, almost a month after she stunned fans with her Super Bowl LVII performance, during which she announced her second pregnancy to the world. On the Oscars stage, Rihanna performed the nominated Best Original Song "Lift Me Up" from the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" album. While singing her heartbreaking tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, the expectant superstar was stunning in an all-black outfit.
During the performance, Rihanna's 34-year-old boyfriend A$AP Rocky hoisted a glass of champagne and cheered for his famous girlfriend. Fans quickly went on TWitter to praise the massive support. Rihanna is nominated for her first Oscar. Previous winner Lady Gaga, is one of the other nominees in her category for her "Top Gun: Maverick" theme song "Hold My Hand." Rihanna's song from "Black Panther 2" is a heartfelt ode to Chadwick, who passed away before production on the sequel began.
Rihanna collaborated with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Swedish producer Ludwig Goransson, and Nigerian vocalist Tems to compose the song. Rihanna has already had an incredible year, and it's only March! She had the privilege of singing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 12 and astonished the world by announcing she is pregnant again by displaying her baby bulge on stage.
Rihanna's pregnancy was a shock to everyone, as she had just given birth to her son with A$AP Rocky in May 2022. Before her Oscars performance, Rihanna posted new photos of her 10-month-old son on Instagram and joked that he would be disappointed to miss her live at the Academy Awards. Fans cannot help but gush about how cute her firstborn is.
Unfortunately, neither Lady Gaga nor Rihanna won the award for Best Original Song. Rihanna, a seven-time Grammy winner, received her first nomination from the Academy, but Lady Gaga won in the same category for Shallow in 2019. Sunday night, however, 'Naatu Naatu' from 'RRR' won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
"Applause" by Tell It like a Woman, Diane Warren, Ludwig Goransson, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj and "This Is A Life" by Everything Everywhere All at Once, David Byrne, Son Lux, and Mitski rounded up the category's nomination for the prestigious award this year. After the nominations were published in January, many noticed that Taylor Swift was absent from the list. The American vocalist whose "Carolina" from Where the Crawdads Sang was on the shortlist of 15 films nominated for an Oscar but did not make the final cut.
