Over the weekend, Taylor Swift kicked off her highly anticipated tour, "The Eras" Tour in Glendale, Arizona.
Everyone obviously was beyond thrilled to have the superstar back onstage, especially her fans who took to social media to share their thoughts on the setlist, outfits, and production.
According to reports, a Twitter user wrote, "Taylor Swift rules and if you disagree, you'll be kicked out of the Internet, I'm pretty sure."
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter-and Tesla, replied to the tweet, "Her limbic resonance skill is exceptional."
Swifties were ticked off by the entrepreneur's comments. They accused him of being a hypocrite and sent memes his way.
"I literally had to google it (as I'm sure he did too lol) but I think he's basically saying she's good and conveying emotions. So he's not totally wrong, he's just being pretentious and annoying," a fan wrote.
"He's probably happy that arguably the biggest star in the world is active on a platform he overpaid big time for."
"Swifties, don't fall for it," another added.
What is 'Limbic Resonance'?
According to Psych Mechanics, "limbic resonance" refers to "a state of deep emotional and physiological connection between two people."
However, it does not end with sharing emotions, but it is also reportedly about sharing "physiological states." The website notes that "limbic resonance" is the core of what makes people social.
So if Musk is seemingly praising the "All Too Well" singer, why are her fans so furious?
Smoker?
Prior to this controversial tweet, the billionaire replied to a tweet by Swift's official, verified account. The singer shared four pictures of herself while she was practicing for the opening night of her tour. She captioned the pictures, "in my Eras era." Musk replied with a cigarette emoji, perhaps alluding that the singer is a smoker. There are no pictures of proof that Swift is a smoker, of course, and fans immediately took offense at the entrepreneur's reply, which they deemed as shady.
Fans began defending Swift, sharing memes, GIFS, and replying that he stay away from her.
"He wants attention," a fan wrote.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Many replied to Musk's tweet.
"Absolutely not !! This is her 1st tour in 5 years we are not making it about some dude."
Despite the weird undertone of Musk's tweet about Swift, her concert went on without a hitch. The singer ignored him and performed in one of the most well-attended shows of her career.
