Taylor Swift just started her highly-anticipated "The Eras Tour" in Glendale, Arizona, over the weekend and her opening act, Paramore, hyped fans up by performing some of their classic and newer songs. Frontwoman Hayley Williams also shared a heartwarming story about what happened during the VMAs 2009 incident with Kanye West.
Performing at the city's State Fame Stadium, the musician recalled a few stories she shared with the pop star, including the shocking incident during the 2009 awards show when the rapper sabotaged Swift's speech by declaring that Beyoncé has "one of the best videos of all time."
She began the story by sharing how she and the "Bejeweled" singer became acquainted at first, saying Swift's mother spoke to her at an event and told her that her daughter was "just getting started and she doesn't really know anybody in the business." (via Loudwire)
Williams got Swift's number, but since she's shy when she's not on stage, the musician didn't reach out to the pop star until after the VMAs scandal.
What Did Hayley Williams Tell Taylor Swift After The VMAs 2009 Incident?
After the incident went viral (and has been a big part of the 2000s pop culture), the Paramore singer felt like she has to reach out to Swift because she was "cool" and did not deserve what happened.
The musician did not specify what exactly she told the pop songstress, but she revealed that it was around that time that she got to know more about her personally.
