Linda Nolan of Nolan Sisters Gives Devastating Cancer Update: 'It's Scary'

In a distressing "Good Morning Britain" interview, Linda Nolan disclosed that her cancer has spread to her brain. In the 1970s, along with her singing sisters, the 64-year-old vocalist became a worldwide sensation.

She told Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley that she has always been optimistic about my treatment and the current events in her life. Unfortunately her illness has migrated her brain, which is clearly scary because there are few effective treatments for brain cancer save chemotherapy.

She however, added that she will not surrender. She wants to stay positive. She is embracing the fact that she will experience hair loss for the fourth time.

The sisters, Maureen, Anne, Linda, Coleen, and Bernie, started the group in 1974 as the Nolan Sisters before changing their name to just The Nolans in 1980. The trio enjoyed seven international hits between 1979 and 1982, including Attention To Me, Gotta Pull Myself Together, and Don't Make Waves, in addition to the now-iconic "I'm In The Mood For Dancing."

They sold over thirty million records, making them one of the most successful girl groups in history. Becoming the first Irish act to sell more than one million records internationally In 1981, the group was the first European act to win Tokyo's Musical Festival. They were a tremendous hit in Japan.

Recording six albums in Japanese and selling over 11 million copies in the country, outselling Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and the Beatles combined. They also toured with Frank Sinatra in 1975 and were found by Joe Lewis, who is currently the owner of Spurs. He then introduced them to Cliff Richard, and they became regulars on his television show in 1974.

In 2009, Coleen, Linda, Maureen, and their late sister Bernie returned to the stage with a spectacular tour. The Nolans received a Variety Legend of Industry Award in 2021 for their contributions to recorded music and entertainment. It was accepted by Coleen, Denise, Maureen, and Anne, together with Erin, the daughter of deceased sister Bernie, who received a plaque in her mother's honor.

Linda was initially diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2005 and had a clean bill of health in 2006. However, in 2017 she was diagnosed with an incurable secondary cancer in her hip, which advanced to her liver in 2020. Prior to achieving fame with her sisters, she released a song in 1981 with her younger sibling Coleen as a member of The Young Moody Band.
