Ray Shulman, popularly known for being one of the founding members of the English band Gentle Giant, has passed away at the age of 73.
His older brother Derek confirmed the devastating news on social media, saying his sibling died on March 30 at his home in London, United Kingdom.
The musician was a multi-instrumentalist but his specialization was mainly the bass. Aside from being a member of the group, he was also a record producer who worked with The Sundays and The Sugarcubes.
Ray Shulman Cause of Death
In the lengthy Facebook post, his brother Derek Shulman, also part of Gentle Giant, confirmed that the musician died of a health-related concern.
"I was with him until the end as he bravely battled a long illness. At least I know he is now at peace," he wrote.
Although it was confirmed that he died of an illness, his family members did not reveal the exact medical condition he suffered from. (via Loudwire)

Ray Shulman Death: Brother Derek Pays Tribute
Elsewhere in the social media tribute, Derek noted that his brother was not just a sibling, but also his best friend. He commended the multi-instrumentalist artist for being a "genius in so many ways."
Aside from being a person with a "kind and caring soul," the singer also revealed his brother was amazing in the field of music as he was an incredible "composer, musician, music producer & tech wizard."
Derek further noted that the late musician and their elder brother, Philip Shulman, were members of Simon Dupree & The Big Sound and Gentle Giant.
Towards the last years of his life, his brother confirmed that Ray worked in authoring and remixing other artists' works.
"He leaves behind his wife Barbara Tanner & his older brother Philip. To all who knew Ray or know of him 'Think of him with kindness," he concluded.
Ray Shulman Fans Mourn Over His Death
After the news of his death made rounds online, many fans took to different social media platforms to pay tribute to the late musician, especially on Derek's post.
"So very sad to read this, he was a genius musician, as were the members of GG. Immense talent that the world will not see its like again. RIP, sir," one wrote.
"Ray made history along with all GG members, the legacy is and will remain one of the best bodies of music ever written in the prog-rock realm and beyond. Thank you Ray, rest in peace," another one wrote.
