Lasse Wellander, popularly known for being ABBA's guitarist, has tragically passed away at the age of 70; what was his cause of death?
According to Entertainment Tonight, the musician's family confirmed the devastating news on his official Facebook page, saying the famed guitarist died after a battle with cancer.
"It is with indescribable sadness that we have to announce that our beloved Lasse has fallen asleep. Lasse recently fell ill in what turned out to be spread cancer and early on Good Friday he passed away, surrounded by his loved ones," his family wrote.

They added that Wellander was an amazing and humble musician throughout his career, and most importantly, he was a "wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather."
He was also described as selfless, caring, safe to the people close to him.

The family concluded the post by saying they have to live their lives without the guitarist.
As of this writing, none of his family members confirmed which type of cancer he suffered from before he passed away.
Who Is Lasse Wellander?
Born Lars-Ove Wellander on June 18, 1952, the musician was also known as a music producer, but he was mostly associated with ABBA as he worked with the group for many decades.
His music career started at the young age of 16 years old by joining Peps & Blues Quality. The band broke up a few years later but relaunched under the name Nature along with Mats Ronander.
The group disbanded again, leading the guitarist to form a duo with the singer, naming their band Wellander & Ronander.
Following his break in the industry, he worked with other artists for several recordings and live performances.
Prior to his death, he was reportedly credited as a contributor in over 6,331 titled and 1,698 albums.
His most popular collaborator is the famed Swedish group ABBA in which he participated in several tours throughout the 1970s and the early 80s.
He also worked on the group's "Chess" project, the official soundtrack for the two Mamma Mia film franchises, and their recent "Voyage" record two years ago.
Regarding his solo career, Wellander dropped solo albums which mostly consisted of instrumental tracks, which have been accessible on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and many more.
