Country singer Granger Smith will be taking a bow for good soon.

Smith officially announced his Like a River Farewell Tour, which he named after his late son, River. The 3-year-old died in a drowning accident in 2019.

As the tour name implies, the country singer told everyone that the upcoming shows would be his last as he confirmed his official retirement as a singer.

In the same post, Smith looked back at his 24-year touring career as a singer. He sent the "difficult" message to fans to mark the end of the longest era in his life.

As for his next career, the singer expressed his desire to pursue ministry at his local church.

"I just want to glorify God the best way that I can. I want to learn and grow and serve my local church and allow my pastors to equip and affirm those next steps. Lord willing, I want to be used to help people find their purpose," he said.

He also uploaded a video in which he spoke about his strong desire to pursue ministry alongside his wife and their children - London, Lincoln, and Maverick.

Before his official announcement, Smith also spoke about his plans during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. As he takes on a new job, he revealed that he would also continue his journey in healing after River's death.

The patriarch said he started to heal more when he began talking with people about their own loss and grief. He will share more of what his heart contains in his new book, "Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache."
