The Weeknd's newest creation is finally coming to life. HBO just announced the official premiere date for the highly anticipated steamy forthcoming series, "The Idol."

This is the brainchild of The Weeknd and Sam Levinson, the creator of another HBO hit series, "Euphoria" and it's finally coming in less than a month!

According to Hypebae, "The Idol" is slated to premiere on HBO on June 4 at 9 a.m. EST, and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Additionally, to get people more excited than they already are, HBO also released a new trailer for the upcoming series-and it features some pretty interesting and great music choices like Britney Spears's "Gimme More."

'Trojan Horse'

The two-minute trailer starts off with clips of a pop star named Jocelyn, portrayed by Lily-Rose Depp. Her glamorous life as a celebrity is highlighted: photoshoots, clubs, overflowing booze, the flashing lights of the paparazzi, and more.

But the story takes a dark turn when she enters a club, which is owned by Tedros, played by The Weeknd, who also happens to be a cult leader.

Depp's character is heard saying, "He's really, like, unlocked something in me," as the scenes in the trailer get wilder and wilder.

Eventually, at what is depicted as the peak of her career, Tedros explains: "Pop music is like the ultimate Trojan horse. You get people to dance. You get people to sing along."

'Controversial, Scandalous'

One of the biggest reasons why people are so invested and excited to see "The Idol" finally drop is because of the rumors that surround its storyline and the behind-the-scenes-that, and the star-studded cast, of course.

In March, Rolling Stone released a report about the forthcoming HBO Max series. It mentioned that it was problematic and the set was "toxic."

A source revealed that Levinson has "gone wildly, disgustingly off the rails."

The Weeknd responded "Did we upset you" to the report with a short clip from the series. It showed Jocelyn and Tedros discussing an upcoming magazine cover shoot.

The rapper's character says, Rolling Stone? Aren't they a little irrelevant? ... Rolling Stone has 6 million followers on Instagram, half of them probably bots. And Jocelyn has 78 million followers, all real I'd assume. So she does a photo shoot, she tags them, they get her followers. More money for Rolling Stone, nothing for Jocelyn."
