Jesy Nelson is no ordinary artist, having experienced a decade of success with the pop group Little Mix.
The all-girl band sold countless records and accumulated a passionate global fanbase.
Two years ago, however, Jesy, who had achieved fame with her bandmates on Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" took a step away from the group to prioritize her mental health.
Unfortunately, this decision resulted in an onslaught of hate online and a tumultuous fallout with the other three members.
Nearly a decade later, the 31-year-old sensation is ready to move forward as she reemerges with her newest solo single, "Bad Thing."
Over the years, the incident has kept Jesy estranged from her former co-bandmates; however, she opens up about it for the first time and looks to return on her terms.
Her latest song is a ballad with haunting melodies and melancholy lyrics, showcasing a departure from her previous works of bubble-gum pop. It aims to address pressing topics like mental illness and abuse in relationships.
It's been over two years since Jesy has interacted with her previous bandmates, which is rather revealing of their breakup.
Speaking to The Sun, Jesy said, "Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don't have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with."
Despite the fantastic times and experiences in Little Mix, at the end of her tenure, her mental health became a priority, so it was vital for her to take a step back and look after herself. After all, there is only one life to live. This was something that should be noticed.
Jesy further said she's rooting for all her three former bandmates, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, because they're "all crazy talented."
