Jesy Nelson has a new song and music video out for her fans to see, but she recently expressed her disappointment after the public focused on her drama with Little Mix instead of celebrating her latest project.
In a video posted by Pop Crave on Twitter, the singer, who went solo after being a member of the girl group for over ten years, addressed the recent issue, saying she doesn't normally comment on "these things" because there's a lot of things being posted about her.
However, she woke up to numerous articles about her and Little Mix's "ongoing feud." She then called out the music industry for the way they treated her as she went on a recent interview to talk about her new music, which focuses on domestic violence, but instead of focusing on her project, they highlighted her comments about her previous bandmates.
Nelson then noted that the question about the girl group is inevitable because she was part of it for over a decade, adding, "naturally, people are gonna be curious if are we still speaking, I said 'no, we haven't spoken in two years but I wish them all the best,'" since all of them are focusing on their solo careers.
The pop star, who previously collaborated with Nicki Minaj, added that her short quote made it to every newspaper's cover and headlines.
Jesy Nelson, Frustrated About Recent Interview
"It's just f****** b******* because I just feel like women just get pitted against each other 24/7 in music and I hate it. I think it's disgusting," she added.
Nelson said it feels frustrating because she wanted to talk about something really personal and close to her heart, but it got taken out of context.
She concluded her video by asking fans to raise awareness about domestic violence because it's an important topic that she thinks isn't spoken about enough.
Jesy Nelson, Little Mix Issue
The issue between the solo artist and Little Mix members Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, started when she spoke in an interview with The Sun.
According to People Magazine, the "Boyz" singer recalled her time with the group and the negative effects of it on her, saying she didn't have time to "breathe and take time out," but she really needed space because she was struggling with mental health issues and body issues.
Unfortunately, it got to a point where she couldn't enjoy "the good parts" anymore because of what she was going through.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jesy Nelson also revealed that she hasn't spoken to her bandmates for over two years now, but she wishes them the best in their respective careers.
