Adele Carpool Karaoke

As the Carpool Karaoke played "I Drink Wine," both Adele and Corden went into full retrospection mode. Before Corden selected the song, Adele revealed that the track was actually "special" for both of them.

The first verse, which she claims to be the "best writing she has ever done," was actually partly inspired by a conversation she has struck with Corden on the way home from a family vacation.

"It was the first year that I felt like I had to hold myself accountable for just being an adult," she tearfully recalled. "The year before, I left Simon [Konecki] and stuff like that. But you and Jules and the kids were so integral in looking after me."

Adele divorced her ex-husband Simon Konecki in 2021 but has agreed to co-parent. She is now in a relationship with NBA agent, Rich Paul.

"It was everything I was feeling that day," he candidly told the singer about the early version of "I Drink Wine." "I was floored by how you'd managed to take everything that I was feeling about myself and life and just put it in a verse."

While the entire Carpool Karaoke trips are usually fun-filled, the last episode was surely filled with tears and retrospection for Corden, whose late-night show host career culminates after eight years.

"You're my best friend in the whole world," Adele emotionally told Corden as she dropped him off at the CBS lot. "I'm going to miss you so much."

Adele 'EGOT' Status Not Possible?

In another candid conversation with Adele, Corden asked the singer, who is only a Tony short of achieving EGOT status, what her plans are.

Adele, in the most honest way, revealed that although she respects the art form of theatre - she doesn't see herself writing a musical anytime soon because how she hates musicals.

"I just don't need to hear everything in a f---ng song! I also know that EGOT suits me better," she joked.
