Meghan Trainor issued a public apology after going under fire for cussing teachers in her podcast, 'Workin' On It with Meghan Trainor & Ryan Trainor."
"Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said 'f teachers' on the podcast and it's not how I feel," the "Mother" singer began.
"I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific, and what all of us have to go through, but especially teachers is not normal and not okay."
Trainor was discussing homeschooling with her podcast guest, Trisha Paytas, when the breeched topics of teachers and bullying were brought up.
"I knew her history with teachers, and I knew my husband's history with his teachers, and I was bullied by some teachers," the singer continued to explain.
"So, in that moment, I got angry and said 'f teachers.' F those specific human beings back in the day, but I did not mean that to all teachers."
Podcast Gone Wrong
According to reports, in the podcast episode, titled "Workin' On Motherhood Pt. 2," the two mothers were discussing how terrible it must feel to send children to school without knowing if they will make it back home, due to the growing cases of school shootings.
"Everyone on TikTok does. They're like, 'This is what it's like to have a kid in a school in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.' Fuck all that," Trainor said.
Paytas then talked about bullying in schools. She noted how children and teachers "can be mean," and cause "trauma."
"Teachers!" the "All About That Bass" singer exclaimed. "F**k teachers, dude."
Outrage
The podcast episode, of course, gained traction on social media-particularly on TikTok, where numerous teachers stitched the video clip of Trainor's comment.
It seems like the outraged reactions from netizens reached Trainor, because she immediately issued her apology, which was uploaded on TikTok.
"I am sorry for being careless with my words. I LOVE teachers and I am here for you...Let's work to make schools a better place together," she wrote on the caption.
"I love teachers, I fight for teachers, I think they have the hardest job and they're the most underpaid. They're the most unappreciated when they literally raise all of us," she added.
"I don't want to make excuses, I'm just so sorry. I'm so sorry to any teachers who I made feel bad."
