According to Marca, the pop royalty's "American Life" music video was banned 20 years ago, but fans can now watch it online as she released its uncensored version on the internet.

After getting a lot of criticism from the public, the singer, who's set to embark on a world tour later this year that will celebrate all eras of her music career, decided to drop an uncensored version.

Why Was Madonna's 'American Life' Banned Before?

The outlet noted that visuals for her song received backlash from many people as they deem it "inappropriate" and "gruesome."

Originally released on April 21, 2003, the music video had sensitive content that are not appropriate for younger audiences and it appeared to be criticizing politics at the time.

Madonna's visuals were straightforward in conveying the message as the video featured several hints about criticism like an army of models dressed as soldiers walking down the runway.

The video appeared to start as a fashion show until the soldiers showed violence and beat people up with fake blood visibly covering the stage.

Later in the music video, the people in the audience, who appeared to be dressed as rich people, only laughed at what was happening on stage despite showing violence.

In addition, there were also several clips from the Iraq war and the outlet suggested that the point of the music video is to be a political commentary on the conflict.

Madonna Updates 2023: 'Celebration Tour'

The pop star will be going on a world tour this year called the "Celebration Tour" which will tackle all eras of her decades-long career.

It was previously reported that the musician will also reflect on her career through fashion as there will be an updated version of her previous costumes like the iconic cone bra, originally designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

The series of concerts will kick off at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, on July 15, 2023, which is now already sold out.

Complete information about tour dates, tickets, and VIP passes is available on her official website here.
