Met Gala 2023 Theme
This year, Met Gala's theme would be "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," which is a tribute to the late French fashion designer who died at the age of 85 in 2019.
The iconic designer was born in Germany in 1933. He began working in the fashion industry during the 1950s and ultimately decided to move to Paris, one of the world's fashion capital, to embark on his fashion journey.
He began his career as a freelance designer for a few brands before becoming Fendi's consultant director in 1967. He later worked as Chanel's creative director from 1983 until his passing.
There is a debate on social media about this year's theme for the Met Gala as many disagree about the late fashion designer's controversial comments when he was still alive. (via CBS News)
Regardless of the backlash, Anna Wintour, Vogue Magazine's editor-in-chief and head organizer of the event, did not change the theme.
