Doja Cat was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) Awards for the outstanding songwriting that she has done in the past couple of years.

Despite being well-loved and adored by fans all over the world, the singer is her own biggest critic.

According to reports, Doja Cat took to Twitter to announce that her third studio album is on its way, however, she also took the time to diss her previously released albums, "Hot Pink" and "Planet Her."

"'Planet Her' and 'Hot Pink' were cash-grabs and yall fell for it. Now I can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop," she wrote.

Fans found it ironic that the songs that she wrote and found massive success with are being considered as "mediocre pop" by Doja Cat herself.

To add to the irony, she just bagged a prestigious songwriter of the year award.

Cash Grabs?

According to Vibe, the "Say So" singer was recognized at the BMI Awards for co-writing some of 2022 most popular and viral songs, which includes "Get Into It," "I Like You," "Need to Know," "Vegas," "Woman," and "You Right."

Since the release of her breakout debut album "Hot Pink," which produced one of her most successful singles, "Say So," Doja Cat has made herself a homestay on the music scene.

On several occasions, Doja Cat has expressed her now disinterest in pop music: "I know that I've done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds,

"But for this next era, I'm going in a more masculine direction."

Quitting Music?

This is not the first time Doja Cat has also expressed her intentions of changing the direction of her music and genre.

Back in April, she famously declared "No more pop."

"I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasn't trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I'm getting tired of hearing yall say that I can't so I will," she later added.

Aside from a new genre, Doja Cat has also been working on changing her image. The singer has added a couple of new tattoos to her collection, and her fashion has drastically changed as well.

It seems like the singer's revamped image will take a lot of people by surprise, given the reception of her recent looks.
