W.A.S.P frontman Blackie Lawless will continue performing with the band despite his injury. However, some things will be different in the next shows.
W.A.S.P. launched its 40th anniversary world tour, the 40th Never Stops World Tour 2023, which would cover the European and American legs. However, after Lawless sustained an injury, the frontman revealed he would remain seated while performing in the upcoming European dates.
W.A.S.P. Frontman Continues To Tour Despite Injury
On Wednesday, Lawless shared a health update on W.A.S.P's official website and revealed that he has been receiving treatment at a hospital in Berlin after suffering a serious setback due to an "unqualified doctor."
Fortunately, he found a team of doctors who have been helping him recover from the herniated disc in his lower back. Although they asked him to stop the tour and go back to Los Angeles to start his rehabilitation treatment, Lawless refused to do so since he prioritizes W.A.S.P's only 40th anniversary tour.
Although he assured his fans he would still perform with the band, he revealed that he would perform in the remaining European shows while seated.
"I will not be able to stand to do the remaining 5 shows, so the compromise I reached with the Doctors was if I would stay seated, in a chair to do these last 5 then they will give me clearance to finish the tour and do those remaining 5 shows," he said.
Lawless added that his condition led him to cut W.A.S.P's Zurich show short by two songs after experiencing sudden pain. The vocalist/guitarist then asked fans to understand his situation as he attempts to finish the tour.
W.A.S.P's European tour is set to end on May 18 at the Universidada Sports Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria.
