Gordon Lightfoot's final album, which he recorded live before his death, will be released soon.
The demand for Lightfoot's music increased after the legendary musician's passing at a hospital in Toronto on May 1. The 84-year-old crooner succumbed after he canceled his US and Canada tour dates due to health-related issues, but his family clarified that he died of natural causes.
Gordon Lightfoot's Final Album Release Date Confirmed
Billboard confirmed that the musician's double album, "At Royal Albert Hall," will be released on July 14 - more than two months after his death. Lightfoot recorded his upcoming album live during his concert at the London venue on May 24, 2016, and it would serve as his fourth live album and his first since 2012.
"[At Royal Albert Hall is] an unembellished live mix of that night's performance, without edits, overdubs, remixing, or re-sequencing," the official press release described the music project. "It captures every song performed in the order they were played, down to the encore by Gordon and his band."
Lightfoot's "At Royal Albert Hall" will feature Rick Haynes on bass, Mike Heffernan on keys, Barry Keane on drums, and Carter Lancaster on guitar.
Linus Entertainment will release the final album. The independent label in Canada previously dropped Lightfoot's studio album, "Harmony," in 2004.
