2023 Ivor Novello Awards
At the ceremony, The Policeman vocalist Sting received an Academy Fellowship. For those who do not know, receiving the Academy Fellowship from the Ivor Novello Awards is one of the highest recognitions given to a songwriter.
According to The Independent, the fellowship granted to Sting recognizes "outstanding songwriting" that has enriched the United Kingdom's cultural fabric.
Meanwhile, Charli XCX was awarded by Amazon Prime with a Visionary Award. Speaking about the incredible recognition, the singer had this to say:
"It's funny, in past interviews I've been like, 'I'm a visionary, I'm the best', and played the part of this braggy character. But actually, to get this statue is something I never thought would happen," she told the press. It's cool to be able to get this kind of accolade on my own terms, without having to make too many sacrifices."
Meanwhile, Harry Styles won PRS for Music Most Performed Work, Jack Antonoff and Florence Welch won a gong for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, RAYE won Best Contemporary Song for "Escapism" and Sault took home Best Album for "11." Meanwhile, Wet Leg's Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers were recognized as Songwriter of the Year by Amazon Music.
