Def Leppard almost lost its frontman Joe Elliot as he was nearly forced to retire due to a health issue.
Fans got new material from Def Leppard after it released its "Drastic Symphonies" orchestral album in 2015. The band is also on a world tour with Motley Crue, which will happen until Aug. 18.
However, Def Leppard almost had a change in the lineup after Elliot received a warning from his doctor years ago.
Def Leppard Joe Elliot Had Vocal Issues
In 2015, Elliot received bad news from his doctor that the health issue he had almost caused him to retire early. He told BBC Breakfast that he had to undergo a vocal rehab to save his voice so he could continue performing.
"I lost my voice quite badly. A doctor that I saw said, 'If it wasn't you, I'd tell you to change your profession,'" he recalled during the interview. "But a vocal coach that we've been working with for about 30 years, he just said to me, 'Poppycock,' and he built me back up again without any surgery."

The frontman then detailed the things he went through when he lost his voice, including losing control of anything and having a frozen vocal cord. He compared it to a dry rubber band that needs enough oil to become "springy" again.
According to Elliot, it was what happened to his vocal cords, but he assured that he has been better in the past years after going through rehabilitation.
Def Leppard Reflects on Popularity
After Elliot stayed with Def Leppard, he has been working on the band's songs to share with its fans.
He recently told a news outlet that Taylor Swift had been a big fan of the band while she was still in her mother's womb. He and the "champagne problems" hitmaker previously worked together to film an episode of the concert show 2008.
As Def Leppard continues to be one of the best bands in history, Elliot and Phil Collen shared how the band has been able to triumph over all the challenges.
According to Collen, the bandmates "stuck it out" and that they did not let things get in the way. He added that they "did what they were told by people who knew what they were doing."
Meanwhile, Elliott credited Def Leppard's current excellent management that keeps the band on the road.
