Kelly Clarkson has always been vocal about her relationship and the aftermath of her divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The Grammy-winning singer also details the struggles she experiences as a mother trying to explain the whole situation to her children and making them comfortable about it.

Clarkson is due to release her new album "Chemistry" on Jun. 23, 2023, her first album since her divorce from Blackstock in 2020. In the past, she has noted that the album will be reflective of the emotions she experienced during their relationship until the aftermath of the divorce.

Kelly Clarkson Reveals 'Never' Connecting To Husband Brandon Blackstock

Speaking to TalkShopLive, Kelly Clarkson explained the creative process she had to go through in making her new album, "Chemistry." She candidly revealed that she cried "a lot" while making music inspired by the breakup.

"Ending a relationship, you know, that's gone on for years. You have children. It's so involved. There are so many layers to it. ...I just wrote a bunch of music, like two and a half to three years ago," Clarkson revealed, saying that she just selected which were appropriate or not on the final tracklist.

At first, Clarkson said she was "hesitant" to release the album and the songs because of how personal and intimate it was - wrestling with the fact that she has to explain things to her children too. Blackstock and Clarkson shares custody of River Rose, 8, and Remington Alexander, 7.

Speaking more about Blackstock, Clarkson revealed a rather crucial aspect of her previous relationship.

"I never really connected before my ex-husband. And I never connected with anybody like that. I'd never felt that," she confessed. "It's just not a healthy environment. I just feel like chemistry is a beautiful and amazing thing but it's powerful for the good and the bad. It makes you do stupid stuff."

Asked when she's open to finding love again, Clarkson said she is, but noted that she's not looking for it. She continues to say that she would only get into one if she feel a "chemical reaction" to it as she loves that "kind of high."
