One thing about Taylor Swift is that she will pack every easter egg she could think of on her music videos. Take for example "Bejeweled," her easter-egg-filled music video left fans scrambling for clues - ultimately leading to the speculation of the "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" release.
Now, fans seemed to have picked up something, with the streets saying that "1989 (Taylor's Version)" is definitely the next re-recording to drop.
'1989 (Taylor's Version)' Release: Fan Theories
Taylor Swift dropped the "Karma" music video with rapper Ice Spice earlier this week after confirming online rumors of a collaboration days before. Swift even held a premiere show on her own New Jersey stop for "The Eras" tour.
Watch the "Karma" music video first before heading onto the fan theories about the "1989 (Taylor's Version) release date.
Right off the bat, the first few clues that the "Karma" music video has shown was the one with Taylor Swift looking like the Roman Goddess of Justice Justicia, often depicted holding a balance scale in modern interpretations. On the pedestal, a Roman numeral inscription can be seen - MCMLXXXIX - which when translated means - 1989.
The second one was the presence of Taylor Swift's pet cat Olivia in the music video. Notably, Swift had Olivia before "1989" was released in 2014. Olivia appeared in the "Blank Space" music video back then, and seeing her in the new music video makes it more apparent that the said era will be due soon.
Shades of sky blue and teal can also be seen, which many considered being "1989-coded," the same color has been widely attributed to Swift's "1989" ever since.
Aside from this, the imagery of five objects appearing was spotted by fans. Five birds were spotted flying in the background while Swift and Ice Spice are in a boat; there are birds on Swift's shirt in the "1989" album art. There were also five lightbulbs where Swift was "breaking free" from elsewhere in the video. Notably, "1989" is the fifth album of Swift's discography.

'1989 (Taylor's Version)' Release Date
As for the release date, the very telling indicator of it was in the last few parts of the "Karma" music video where Swift was holding a coffee cup with a clock latte art. Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Swift's left thumb was painted with bright blue nail polish, signifying "1989" while the right thumb was painted black, signifying the release of "reputation" afterward.
Fans said that the "1989 (Taylor's Version)" release date, or announcement, might be on August 2023, since her thumb was placed on the eighth hour, while the "Reputation (Taylor's Version) on February 2024 as the right thumb was on the second hour.
Well, everything's open for interpretation, but as for Swifties, they're already banking on this one.
