His other song, a cover of ABBA's "The Winner Takes It All," saw a 559 percent jump in sales after selling 2,000, making it land on the chart's No. 19 spot. Tongi notably made the track available for download after his tear-jerking performance during the top 20 episode in April.
These recent milestones helped him land at No. 3 on the Emerging Artists chart.
Tongi notably impressed the judges in the show with his performances of "Monsters," "I Can't Make You Love Me," "The Winner Takes It All," "Bring It On Home To Me," "What a Wonderful World," and "Father and Son," among others.
Iam Tongi Gears Up To Drop Major Project
After his "American Idol" win, the champion hinted at his major project after a fan asked Oliver Steele about his and Tongi's potential album.
He shared a screenshot of Steele's Instagram Story in which the singer asked what he thinks about an album together "someday."
The duo has been friends since the competition started, but Steele was eliminated after making it to the top 8. Despite that, Tongi continuously received support from him while the top 8 contestants opened up about the poor treatment he received from ABC following his elimination.
For what it's worth, Steele went live on Instagram, revealing that he was banned from going to Hawaii with Tongi after the latter made it to the top 5.
"What's this about not being able to come to Hawaii?" he told his viewers. "What's this about not being able to come to Hawaii?"
After hearing Steele's story, fans expressed their disappointment toward "American Idol" for preventing him from going to Hawaii on his own.
