The tragic killing of the rapper was caught on camera through a CCTV nearby, which showed two unidentified suspects shooting Atifeka's car over a hundred times.

"They were stalking him yesterday (Wednesday) until they saw him," said Roberto Rivera, a police lieutenant colonel from Puerto Rico Police. "They allowed him to enter the place first. He was seen. Once he returned to the vehicle, there they opened fire on him and riddled him inside the vehicle."

The rapper did not stand a chance. By the time rescue and law enforcement arrived, he was already dead; he was 42.

Pictures of the gruesome crime scene as well as a picture of Atifeka's dead body began circulating the Internet shortly after his gruesome death.

Atifeka's death comes shortly after him getting released on bail after a March arrest.

The rapper is no stranger to violence and he was once arrested for possession of firearms.

During his sentencing several years back, he told the judge: "You say that this is a third-world country. As an artist, you have money and jewelry and they (criminals) know where you are going to sing and anyone can come and take away yours.

"Your honor, regarding my music, I used it like many others, as a springboard to be someone in urban music, to grow and develop and I wanted to grow as an artist and I was on the right track until this happened to me."

Tributes

Atifeka was beloved in the Latin music community. His death ushered in countless tributes from his fellow artists and musicians.

"I am not the one to judge anyone's personal life but I can judge the way people treat me," wrote Daddy Yankee in an Instagram post. "Based on that judgment, I can choose my friends. I am aware that you have always treated me with respect, appreciation, honesty, sincerity, and loyalty."

According to reports, there is still no information why Atifeka was killed.
