One Direction was active for six years, before their abrupt hiatus that began in 2016; fans are clearly still not over the split, and it has not stopped someone from leaking the British-Irish boy group's unreleased songs every now and then.
A new song called "Where We Are" has surfaced online, and it is making its rounds on Twitter and TikTok.
As per the user who shared audio of the entire song, the song was allegedly recorded around 2014, which was around the time One Direction announced their "Where We Are Tour" in support of their third studio album, "Midnight Memories."
As of this writing, there is still no information on whether the song is really unreleased or artificially generated music; however, fans online have already taken a deep and intense liking to it.
Unreleased Songs
According to reports, this is not the first time an unreleased One Direction song was leaked online.
Back in 2022, several unreleased songs titled "Hunger, "Lay Down," "Without You," and "Troubled" were leaked online.
In 2020, another song called "Half the World Away" surfaced online after it was uploaded to YouTube by an account called The One Direction Archive.
As per Capital FM, "Half the World Away" was written by Harry Styles in 2013, and was recorded sometime after.
Even with the new leaked song, no one is really even sure where the songs are coming from, and no one from the four-membered group-as well as Zayn Malik-have addressed the leaked unreleased songs.
All of these unreleased songs are still currently up on YouTube and several other social media platforms, and fans cannot seem to get enough.
Fans React
"Where We Are" is currently trending on Twitter and TikTok, raking in thousands upon thousands of tweets and videos from fans worldwide.
"Getting a new One Direction song in 2023 was not on my bingo card today," a fan wrote.
"I seriously don't know what to feel, I just can't do this anymore, I miss them so much," another added.
"I'm having a literal breakdown over this song. You're telling me they wrote a while a*s song called 'Where We Are', named their entire tour after it, and never released it? The vocals, the beat, it makes me feel like I'm floating. The bridge? They really did that. I love them so much. I miss them so much. I'm having a breakdown."
One Direction went on what was supposed to be an 18-month hiatus in 2016 following the release of their fifth studio album, "Made in the AM."
Fans have been eagerly waiting for their return as a group, however, it seems like the notion might be unlikely now that each of the members are pursuing solo music careers.
