Over the past couple of months, fans have begun to speculate that a One Direction reunion is coming sometime in the future.

There have been a lot of instances that the British-Irish boy group has hinted about it, and even shown it in their own little ways, but what really is happening behind the scenes?

During his interview with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, Niall Horan finally addressed the long-standing rumors of a One Direction reunion.

"It's just like the conversation hasn't happened," the "Heaven" singer simply stated. "It's a great legacy to have. No, I don't think [asking about the reunion] sucks the air out the room. It's more, the answer's still the same. The conversation hasn't happened."

One Direction Reunion Rumors

The rumors of the world-famous boy group reuniting and releasing new material or even going on a farewell tour have been circulating from the moment they announced their hiatus back in 2016.

Recent events, like Harry Styles accidentally posting a picture of himself wearing a One Direction shirt (and deleting it shortly afterward) or the news of three members coming together to record new music, have sent fans into a wild goose chase filled with theories.

Back in March, the "As It Was" singer posted a picture of himself a sporting One Direction shirt on his Instagram Stories. He quickly took it down, of course, but eagle-eyed fans had already taken screenshots of it.

When fans began to hound him about the picture, he simply said, "I guess some of us have secrets."

New Music Coming Soon?

Another instance when fans lost their minds was when news came out that three members of the "X Factor" alums reunited and gathered in a recording studio.

According to reports, Horan along with Louis Tomlinson headed to a Los Angeles recording studio to work on new music with Liam Payne.

"Liam is great pals with Niall and Louis, so loved catching up with them while they were all in LA," a source revealed to The Sun. "Being in the studio together felt natural, so they all jumped on a track."

It seems like the song was recorded and intended to be released on Payne's upcoming sophomore album, although there is no confirmation on whether it will be included in the final tracklist.

"Producers are hoping Liam includes it on his finished album, fans will love it."
