Four years after the issue was laid to rest, the story about Scooter Braun's purchase of Taylor Swift's masters was again revived, now saying that her father had also profited from the said sale.

A report from Music Business Worldwide came about, claiming that Scott Swift made $15 million in profit for the said album sale from Big Machine Label Group to Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings.

Did Taylor Swift's Dad Knew About The Scooter Braun Deal?

According to an Entertainment Tonight source, Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, was unaware of the Scooter Braun deal.

The same source also revealed that Scott Swift did not have any knowledge before the deal actually happened.

"There was a shareholder phone call that Scott Swift did not participate in due to a very strict NDA that bound all shareholders and prohibited any discussion at all without risk of severe penalty," the source explained to the outlet.

Apparently, Scott did not join the said call, which the report claims to have given Scott some information, because he did not want to be bound in an agreement where he was forced to withhold any valuable information from his own daughter.

Aside from this, Taylor Swift had denied allegations that she knew about the supposed sale before it was published already. Big Machine Label Group even told Swift to "earn" her albums if she wanted to.

"For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and 'earn' one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future," she wrote in a Tumblr post at the time.

How Much Did Scooter Braun Buy Taylor Swift's Albums?

According to the same report from Music Business Worldwide, Braun secured the whole Big Machine Label Group for $300 million and an additional $30 million for the publishing operation.

"Taylor Swift's six-album master catalog at BMLG, say our sources, was individually valued by Braun's team as being worth $140 million," the report said.

Thanks to Kelly Clarkson's suggestion to re-record her albums, Taylor Swift has now released two albums from those Braun bought in 2019-"Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)." "Speak Now (Taylor's Version) is bound to release in July 2023.
