Hassan Ali, popularly known by his stage name Top5, is currently being investigated after he allegedly filmed a music video while being behind bars for a murder charge.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, the Toronto-based rapper is currently serving jail time in a prison in Canada after he was accused of murdering a student named Hashim Omar Hashi three years ago.
It was said that the musician mistook the victim for the person in charge of his brother's death. At the time of his arrest, he was residing in Los Angeles, California, but was eventually extradited back to his home country in 2021.
Despite the accusations, prosecutors clarified that the rapper is not being charged as the main killer in the murder case, but rather as a passenger in the car where the accounting student died.
Top5 in Big Trouble After Filming Music Video in Jail
In addition to his current charges and case, Top5 is being hit with another legal trouble after allegedly filming a music video despite him being behind bars.
Over the weekend, the musician shared the official music video for his track "21 Questions" which is in collaboration with other rappers G Herbo and 6ixbuzz.
Although the entire visuals didn't revolve around the jail, there have been several shots where he appeared to be in a cell, while the rest appeared to be filmed elsewhere.
After the music video made rounds around the internet, Canadian authorities expressed their dismay over the incident, leading the Ontario Solicitor General to issue a statement.
"The ministry is aware of an unacceptable incident involving a video posted online that appears to contain images of secure areas of the Maplehurst Correctional Complex," a spokesperson said.

The representative further discussed that photography of any kind without permission is "strictly prohibited" inside the premises.
Now that the music video had blown out of proportion, the ministry is now conducting an investigation into the matter and there would be "appropriate action" to his wrongdoings.
As of this writing, there is still no information on whether Top5 would be charged for violating such strict rules.
In other updates, the music video is still up on his official YouTube channel and fans bombarded the comment section to poke fun at the incident.
