Olivia Rodrigo is following in the footsteps of her idol, Taylor Swift in becoming this generation's greatest lyricist and songwriter. Thanks to "Sour," she has established her reputation for being known to write about her past heartbreak, in passing, her "ex-boyfriend" Joshua Bassett.

While it would be fairly expected that the subject for her new record was her most recent ex-boyfriend, Adam Faze, it seems like it was not.

Olivia Rodrigo Ex-Boyfriend Adam Faze NOT The Subject of 'Vampire'?

A The Sun report recently inferred that Adam Faze, Olivia Rodrigo's Ex-Boyfriend, seemed to be the subject of her new song, "Vampire."

"Went for me and not her cuz girls your age know better. I've made some real bad mistakes but you make the worst one look fine," Rodrigo sang.

Notably, Faze was 24 years old at the time when he dated 20-year-old Rodrigo in 2022, Cosmopolitan reports.

"You made me look so naive, sunk your teeth into me, bloodsucker, famef***er, bleeding me dry like a goddamn vampire," she sang on the now famous chorus.

While it was noted in the article that Rodrigo would definitely not confirm the identity of the man she was referring to in the song, many have already believed that it was Faze.

However, a People Magazine source debunked this theory.

"The song isn't about Adam Faze," the insider said to have been close with Rodrigo simply confirmed to the magazine.

While the actual scenarios and events actually suggest it actually is Faze, the insider says otherwise.

It was exactly two years ago in July 2021 when the then-couple was spotted at the "Space Jam 2" premiere in California. The song also spoke about at age difference, which they had, and a six-month relationship.

Taking to Instagram to share how the song and the music video came about, Rodrigo posted behind-the-scene photos of her on the platform.

"It's one of my favorite songs on the album and it felt very cathartic to finish. I'm so happy it's in your hands now and I hope it helps u deal with any bloodsuckers in your life. all my thanks 4ever," she wrote.

The song was co-produced by Dan Nigro, his longtime collaborator since "Sour," while the music video was directed by Petra Collins.
