What's Willie Nelson's secret behind his good health at the age of 90?
Nelson marked his 90th birthday in April through the star-studded Hollywood Bowl, which featured a number of musicians and collaborators. The two-day event was "a celebration of love - love of music, love of storytelling, and love of Willie Nelson... an American icon," but it also sparked queries about whether he would retire and call it a career soon.
Amid the rumors, Nelson himself dismissed the idea of ending his life as a musician, and the secret behind his capability to continue performing lies in his health and how he takes care of his body.
Willie Nelson Health: How Country Singer Manages Not To Contract Illnesses Including Cancer
Over the past years, Nelson only faced a number of health issues which is less than what people of his age experience.
The "On The Road Again" singer learned he had a lung condition called emphysema when he started having a breathing problem in 2019. He also struggled with back problems and collapsed lungs while recovering from his hip replacement surgery.

While these health issues prevented him from having as many shows as he used to, Nelson assured several times that he would never leave his post as a musician. In fact, he also told Parade that he is not worried about his last days as he only wants to enjoy his good life instead.
Other musicians did not reach his age, but Nelson's secret behind his good condition was his decision to cut alcohol and cigarettes years ago.
In a previous interview with KSAT TV, he noted how he used to abuse his lungs until reality hit him and reminded him to be careful. One website cited medical reports, including the American Cancer Society's post, that alcohol consumption and smoking can increase a person's risk of developing several types of cancers like throat, esophagus, mouth, lung, and liver cancers.
Willie Nelson Still Smokes Marijuana
Although the country singer gave up smoking and drinking alcohol a long time ago, he admitted that he continues to smoke marijuana or cannabis as he advocates its usage for a long time.
His spokeswoman, Elaine Schock, told The Associated Press that he still smokes the mind-altering psychoactive drug and shared how the singer "does what he
wants when he wants" when it comes to smoking.
Nelson is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, and he disclosed that he would still keep going after the ceremony.
