Willie Nelson's health issues garnered attention following the latest cancelation of his show.
Shortly before his Outlaw Music Festival Tour at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass., Willie's team announced the country singer would not be able to perform with the band. He would resume his appearance on July 4 in Camden, N.J.
His son, Lukas Nelson, will perform with the band instead.
"Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse will perform as scheduled. In addition, Lukas Nelson and Family, along with some special guests, will once again play his own set that will include Willie's classics and other songs," the statement read.
Willie was previously forced to cancel his appearance during the opening night "per doctor's orders, [had] been advised to rest for the next four days."
While he did not disclose his exact health issue, fans started exploring the icon's health battles over the years.
For years, the 91-year-old "On the Road Again" singer sparked retirement rumors due to his health issues that affected his shows and performances.
In 2019, he was diagnosed with a lung condition called emphysema. The health problem caused him to suffer from breathing problems.
In addition, his collapsed lungs and back problems took a toll on his health while he was recovering after a hip replacement surgery.
"All I do is play music and golf. Which one do you want me to give up?" he said in an interview when asked about his status.
Willie previously admitted to smoking marijuana and cannabis after giving up cigarettes and alcohol, though his spokeswoman Elaine Shock told The Associated Press that the singer "does what he wants when he wants" when it comes to smoking.
Although his health battles worried his fans, the "Write Your Own Songs" singer has been determined to continue performing regardless of his condition and age.
"His body aches and gives him pain, but he's determined to brave through it and keep on performing even if it kills him, which it just might do," his pal told National Enquirer. "It's no secret Willie's been plaything though the pain for years and shrugging off his medical emergencies and ailments, but the older he gets the harder it's becoming to stay mobile."
