Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" had been the talk of the town since it was released last week. With allegations that it was a jab against Taylor Swift, a diss track to Rodrigo's ex-boyfriend, and a confirmation that it was part of a bigger issue - the fan theories and conversations are endless!
The track also crashed Spotify on its release last Friday. As it picked up streaming and download throughout the week, many speculate that it's already amassing the same success that "drivers license" had on its debut week.
With that being said, can Olivia Rodrigo eventually dethrone Morgan Wallen on the Billboard Hot 100 charts?
Morgan Wallen 'Last Night' Billboard Hot 100
Released in February 2023, "Last Night" made a slow climb to the top. Debuting at No. 5 on the Hot 100 charts, the song finally peaked at No. 1 on the March 18-dated charts. Since then, it has only been removed thrice from the summit.
Miley Cyrus' "Flowers," Jimin's "Like Crazy," and "SZA's "Kill Bill" were the only three songs that managed to lynch the song from its nest at the top. Since SZA's return atop, the song has blocked many songs from debuting at No. 1.
Very recently, "Last Night" and Luke Combs' cover of "Fast Cars" established Country music domination as they took over the Top 1 and Top 2 spots of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Meanwhile, Rema and Selena Gomez's "Calm Down" achieves its highest peak at No. 3, as "Flowers" stays at No. 4 and Lil Durk and J.Cole's "All My Life" settles at No. 5.

Olivia Rodrigo 'Vampire' Billboard Hot 100 Debut
Because of the seemingly excellent commercial performance and critical acclaim that Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" has amassed recently, many people have speculated and projected that the track will finally overthrow Wallen at the top.
Should Rodrigo really do it, she would have been the first artist in chart history to land her first two lead singles of her career on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. "Drivers' License" opened at No. 1 on January 2021.
Subsequently, her album "Sour" became one of the longest-running albums by a female artist on the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 charts. Her second album, "Guts," will be released on September 2023.
