What are the latest updates about the fiasco that went down between Britney Spears, Victor Wembanyama, and his security?
Spears was reportedly hit across the face by the NBA player's security after rushing after Wembanyama's entourage to ask for a picture.
Some reports say that the "Toxic" singer claimed that she was "knocked off" her feet and her glasses fell on the floor.
However, footage of the incident has surfaced which showed exactly what happened during the altercation.
Unlike initial reports, Spears did not fall to her knees after being hit by the security guard. The singer was still on her feet and was perhaps stunned by what happened.
Britney Spears, Victor Wembanyama's Statements
Following the incident, the two celebrities involved took to social media to issue their respective statements.
"Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night," Spears wrote on Instagram.
She went on to claim that she "simply tapped him on the shoulder," and not "grabbed him from behind," like what the San Antonio Spurs player claimed she did.
"I get swarmed by people all the time," Spears continued. "In fact, that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn't hit any of them."
On the other hand, Wembanyama shared his version of events; apparently, he did not even know that his security had backhanded Spears at first.
"I didn't know for a couple hours," he said. "Then the security of the Spurs told me it was Britney Spears. At first, I was like, 'No, you're joking,' but yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears. I never saw her face. I just kept walking straight."
The "Toxic" singer denounced the violent reaction towards her harmless approach, "Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors,
yet to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization. I hope they will."
Britney Spears Doesn't Press Charges
According to USA Today, Wembanyama's security will not be hit with any charges.
"The LVMPD has concluded its investigation of the alleged battery," wrote the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department about the situation. "No charges will be filed against the person involved."
The person in question is Spurs' head of security, Damian Smith.
