Dominic Fike Talks About Drug Addiction and How 'Euphoria' Showrunners Helped Him

Dominic Fike, a singer-songwriter, made a big impression with his acting debut as Elliot on the popular HBO series "Euphoria."

Fike claimed that he nearly lost the part because of his drug use in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music to mark the release of his newest record, "Sunburn."

Fike acknowledged that he was a drug addict and it's very difficult to come on to a show that's mainly about drugs.

He added that he was really screwed up for most of that show.

He revealed that Sam Levinson, the show's creator and director, even made an effort to help Fike so that he could shoot.

Sam, the filmmaker and writer, found me a sober coach who would be present all the time. Unfortunately, it was ineffective.

The situation deteriorated to the point where they were forced to use Fike's high-quality takes. Fike remembered that he almost got thrown off the show. He claims that after being "reprimanded" for his drug use, the program finally decided to keep him.

ike is upfront about using drugs. He recounted being high for the most of the recording of his 2020 album What Could Possibly Go Wrong in an interview with GQ, telling the magazine that he was going through so much then, and he was heavily addicted to so many drugs.

Dominic Fike is a pop singer and actor from the US. He gained recognition as a vocalist after releasing a number of successful songs on SoundCloud. Don't Forget About Me, Demos, Dominic's debut EP, became an instant hit and attracted the interest of major record labels. Later, he signed a record deal with Columbia Records, releasing a number of successful singles.

His song "3 Nights" became a worldwide hit and peaked in numerous nations' top 10.

Additionally, he appeared in the well-known song "Die For You" by Justin Bieber. After starring in the second season of the teen drama Euphoria, he not only became a well-known singer but also a well-known actor.

Dominic Fike is a very talented actor and singer-songwriter obviously, and given all that he had dealt with and continuing to face, the journey to his second album resembles one of the dramas in which he appears. A selection of Soundcloud demos that the alt-pop artist produced at home while under house arrest served as the world's introduction to him. After violating the terms of his house detention, he published those tracks later.

The six-track EP triggered a bidding war amongst companies, and Fike was reputedly acquired by Columbia Records for a cool $4 million. The hype was confirmed with a nod from fellow rising star Billie Eilish, collaborations with artists like Halsey, Paul McCartney, Omar Apollo, and more, and a No. 1 smash on the Alternative music charts for his swaggering, emo-pop ballad "3 Nights."
