Madonna's health issue might also lead to problems with her finances, a source recently claimed.
Following her ICU stay due to a serious bacterial infection, the Queen of Pop had no choice but to postpone her highly-anticipated Celebration Tour and reschedule it to start by October. She has not confirmed the exact beginning of Celebration Tour's European leg, but the cancelation reportedly posed a threat to her finances.
Madonna Might Also Be Affected Financially After Celebration Tour Postponement
Madonna, who has a net worth of $850 million as of July 2023, reportedly stands to lose millions after pushing back her world tour.
OK! Magazine cited an unnamed insider's claim about the "Material Girl" hitmaker focusing on her health following her health scare, though it remains unknown when exactly she could return to the stage again. At the same time, the source spoke up about the possibility of the singer losing millions after the changes in her schedule.
"Now that it's postponed indefinitely, this could wind up being very costly to Madonna," the source said. "She stands to lose millions."
This mirrored The Express' report about experts' comments on the postponement, including entertainment lawyer Marc Ostrow saying there would be "no celebration anytime" soon.
Ostrow, who is also a senior counsel at New York-based Romano Law, explained that Madonna and her team face fees they need to settle due to the schedule's changes. Per the lawyer, any postponement of dates on any major or multi-city tour serves as a "logistical nightmare" that can lead to millions of losses.
Although tours have insurance, it may not cover most of the tours' expenses, including Madonna herself, Live Nation, her Celebration Tour's venues, and staff.
Madonna Is The Most Affected After Celebration Tour Postponement
Billboard also posted a related article in which the magazine tackled the most affected party in the cancelation and disclosed how much it costs to reschedule a tour.
For what it's worth, Madonna's world tour was initially scheduled on July 15 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. Since the singer's touring team and Live Nation already spent millions on the equipment and infrastructure, they will still need to pay the deposits of the high-demand items to ensure their availability once the crooner is ready to tour again.
