Taylor Swift sang "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" as a surprise tune on Saturday night in Seattle.

The first surprise song was done by her acoustically on guitar, and as she got to the lyric "And here's to you 'Cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do.." she let out a huge laugh.

The song "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" from Taylor Swift's Reputation album has long been rumored to be about her conflict with Kanye West. It makes reference to the betrayal she felt after he published the song "Famous" and the Kim Kardashian-West Snapchat incident.

Most likely, Kim and Kanye won't be invited to the LA performance next month. even though on TikTok, Kim and North danced to Taylor's music.

The relationship between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is widely known. It all started in 2009 at the MTV VMAs when Beyoncé was hailed as having "the best album of all time" and Taylor won the award for best album.

Kanye then stormed the stage to congratulate Taylor. It was unsettling to watch and still is; its effects are still felt today.

Taylor reflected on that time in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, saying, "All I ever wanted my whole career after that thing happened in 2009 was for him to respect me. When someone doesn't respect you so loudly and says you literally don't deserve to be here - I just so badly wanted that respect from him, and I hate that about myself, that I was like, 'This guy who's antagonizing me, I just want his approval.' But that's where I was. And so we'd go to dinner and stuff. And I was so happy because he would say really nice things about my music. It just felt like I was healing some childhood rejection or something from when I was 19."

She continued by talking about how West had called her in 2015 and asked her to give him the Vanguard Award. Taylor said she was just going to get over this after West gave her flowers as an act of contrition and she declared she didn't want any more animosity.

And then in 2016, Famous occurred. West raps, "I made that bitch famous," in the song, which prompts Taylor to publicly call him out. However, Kim Kardashian West then released audio recordings of the phone call, which appeared to show Taylor granted her permission for the track to be released.

In a later interview with Reputation, she addressed the topic, telling the publication, "I wanted to play on the idea of a phone call - because that's how all of this started, a stupid phone call I shouldn't have picked up." She claims that the song was the decisive turning point. Swift claims the previous three years have increased her level of caution around people.
