Spotify's Most Necessary playlist has featured songs by artists of various genres who impact the hip-hop culture while expanding their empire in the music industry. The streaming platform will offer the same playlist to the fans soon - but this time, live.
Where and When Will Spotify's Most Necessary Live Start?
In a press release on Spotify's For the Record tab, the digital music service announced how it would celebrate hip-hop and influential artists from around the globe through the concert series.
Most Necessary Live, according to the report, is a quarterly live performance series that will feature artists and events of regional rap scenes and introduce emerging rappers across the country.
"As a physical extension of the playlist - it's another example of how we're continuing to support emerging artists at Spotify," hip-hop lead, artist partnerships at Spotify Max Weinstein said in a statement. "A major collaborative effort across the music and marketing teams, we're launching this showcase to highlight local artists and give fans a chance to see their favorite acts perform live."
He added that the team had been working on it for quite some time; with the announcement, they are finally giving life to the famed Most Necessary playlist.
The program will start on Aug. 2 at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas. The next schedules and venues are yet to be confirmed, but Spotify has already shared another exciting update about the surprise performers.
Most Necessary Live Guest Performers
The Houston, Texas, live show will reportedly feature several hip-hop stars and artists, including Mike Dimes, KenTheMan, That Mexican OT, DeeBaby, and Monaleo. More surprise guests will be named at a later date, per the report.
Asking about their inspirations, the guests named their favorite rap and hip-hop artists during an interview with Spotify.
That Mexican OT said he was inspired by the Texas hip-hop scene as he grew up, with Big L becoming his greatest inspiration. He also spoke about getting encouraged by his friends and peers, that he was also pushed to work on his upcoming project, "Lonestar Luchador."
Meanwhile, Monaleo dropped several artists' names, including YMCMB (specifically Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj), who reportedly pushed her to pursue music. She also spoke about her love for Odd Future and getting hyped by her "current inspirations," Beyoncé and Frank Ocean.
Mike Dimes picked A$AP Rocky and Joey Bada$, while KenTheMan chose 2Pac, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj, among others.
