Tony Bennett Son Danny Remembers Father In Touching Tribute

Last Friday, music icon, Tony Bennett, passed away at 96 years old after a long battle with Alzheimer's' disease.

Although Tony Bennett's cause of death has not yet been revealed, many believe it was attributed to his debilitating disease and frail condition.

Danny Bennett Reflects on Father Tony Bennett's Death

Speaking to People Magazine, Danny Bennett gave a touching tribute to his late father.

"Tony, my father, imbued the essence of the American dream," he started. "He taught us all that remarkable opportunities will reveal themselves and that anything is possible when you stick by your passion, believe in yourself and dedicate your life to quality."

Danny was also Tony's manager from 1979 until his old pop's retirement in 2021. Notably, Tony Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2016 but he only announced it in 2021 before his retirement.

"He was an artist, a humanitarian, and an inspiration to anyone who experienced his elegance and grace. He and I experienced an amazing journey together as father and son, and I'm simply proud and humble to have been a small part of his legacy," he continued.

Danny is the eldest among the four children of Tony Bennett. He is the son of Danny with his first wife, Patricia Beech. Born on February 1954, Danny became his father's manager in 1979.

The New York Times credited Danny for saving his father's career. He revived the then-declining career of Tony which was plagued by financial and substance abuse in the late 70s.

Similarly, Susan Crow, the surviving wife of Tony Bennett, shared with People Magazine her most favorite photo of her late husband.

​​"Tony would paint all day, and then we would eat pasta, which was his favorite meal. I love how this photo captured his thoughtful demeanor....everyone knows Tony had heart, but he also was a wonderful soul," Susan spoke about her husband.

The photo, as seen only on this website, shows the late singer looking outside the window to a vast, picturesque view of an Italian landscape. The shot was taken during their honeymoon in 2007 at Villa San Michele, in Florence, Italy.

"From his first performances as a singing waiter in Queens to his last performances in 2021 at Radio City Music Hall, Tony delighted in performing the songs he loved and making people happy," the Bennett family said in a statement. "And as sad as today has been for all of us we can find joy in Tony's legacy forever."
