Sinead O'Connor's tragic last days were connected to her previous social media posts before her death.
O'Connor's family confirmed that the Irish singer died at the age of 56, over a year after her son, Shane, died. Her cause of death has not yet been disclosed yet, but her last social media post highlighted the struggles she went through following the tragic loss.
How Did Sinead O'Connor's Son Die?
A week before her death, Connor shared a tweet dated July 17 in a since-deleted Twitter account referencing her struggles since her son Shane died.
"Been living as undead night creature since," the singer said. "He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him."
The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer openly spoke about Shane's death in several tweets in 2022, expressing how much she loved her and wished him to finally be at peace.

Aside from the tweet, she also uploaded a video of her apartment and spoke about the toll of her son's death, saying she initially did not want to make the clip since she did not look well. A few days later, she seemingly showed positive news when she announced the arrival of her new music after returning to London to work on it.
Heartbreakingly, O'Connor also expressed her desire to tour in 2024 or 2025 prior to her untimely death.
Shane was last seen alive in Tallaght, Dublin, and he was found dead in the Bray area a few days later. O'Connor remained hopeful that he would be back safe and even asked him not to take his life and harm himself.
Following Shane's death by suicide, the singer slammed the Irish authorities who reportedly failed to look after her son despite being on suicide watch.

The "Drink Before the War" was open about her struggle with mental illness, though it remains unknown whether it has something to do with her death.
