It's been months since Takeoff passed away and it seems like he had a major impact on some of his closest friends' lives as Quavo recently admitted that he is still mourning and crying over the death of his good pal.
According to XXL Mag, the rapper took to his official YouTube channel to share a video explaining his new project "Rocket Power."
In the black-and-white clip, the musician, who wore a shirt seemingly inspired by Takeoff, shared what inspired him to create the album, as well as how important the project is to him.
He later opened up about the death of his Migos bandmate and nephew, Takeoff, saying he was heavily affected by it.
Although the rapper already passed away, Quavo noted that he will always have a special place in his heart.
"I think about him all the time... Sometimes I cry myself to sleep, you know, and that's it. I just know he's here," he said.
He added that even though he couldn't physically feel him, he knows to himself that the rapper is around.
Quavo New Album 2023: 'Rocket Power' Dedicated to Takeoff?
The musician first announced his new project "Rocket Power" last week on Instagram and it appears that the new LP is dedicated to the late rapper.
In the caption of his post, he noted that the album is embodying all of his emotion. He also noted that the process of healing made him turn "tragedy into triumph."
"I had to dig deep into my purpose and find the power to keep striving," he added.
Quavo Updates
The recent news comes a few days after Quavo was reportedly detained by authorities after an incident in a yacht.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the musician was seen handcuffed with zip ties while he talked to police officers.
It was alleged that the captain of the watercraft that he was on was held up at gunpoint by two men who have threatened him to throw his body in the water if he don't refund them.
As of this writing, there are still no updates whether Quavo was involved in the incident as his name was not in the police report.
