Sinead O'Connor has passed away at the age of 56 and her neighbors have recollected on her life and its troubles.
However, it appears the Irish singer was focused on finding peace in her final days.
Tragically, the Nothing Compares 2 U legend's final tweets highlight the continued grief she felt over her 17-year-old son Shane's passing last year.
As a tribute to other mothers in similar situations, she wrote, "For all mothers of Suicided children, Great Tibetan Compassion Mantra." This news was first released by Radar.
The "Drink Before the War" artist shared another emotion-filled post, discussing her life since the tragic passing of her beloved son.
She said she has been existing as an "undead night creature," unable to feel fully alive without him. Describing their special bond, she called him "the love of my life, the lamp of my soul" and added that he was the only person who ever truly loved her without restrictions.
Farath Moragammanage, who lives in the area close to the troubled singer, expressed her shock at hearing about the tragic news. She noted how only recently, the singer had seemed to be full of optimism.
According to the Daily Mail, the neighbor witnessed Sinead with a smile and wave. They were accompanied by an Irish friend to the Brixton area, her new home for the past six or so weeks. The neighbor revealed that [O'Connor] mentioned being a famous singer.
When the medical team arrived at Moragammanage's residence, she suddenly realized that something was amiss.
"I didn't know what to think when I saw a private ambulance pull up late Wednesday afternoon; they stayed for several hours before departing," she recounted in sorrow.
"Just later on, when I heard the news, only then did things start to come together and make sense. My heart goes out to my neighbor."
Occasionally, the two neighbors would come across each other. "I recall numerous occasions when our paths would cross and she'd be smoking a cigarette while we shared a few words in passing."
According to sources close to Sinead O'Connor, there was worry that she may follow in the footsteps of her beloved idol Prince and succumb to an early death.
This fear was heavily influenced by the challenges she faced throughout her lifetime such as an abusive childhood, four failed marriages, and open dialogue about her struggles with bipolar disorder.
It was a shock for the Sinead O'Connor family when her mental illness was revealed in 2018.
"They're all distraught," an anonymous source confided. "Everyone is praying she turns a corner."
Sadly, that corner never came as her family announced her death on Wednesday.
In the weeks preceding, the political activist offered a hint at new music to her supporters.
She proclaimed that after returning to London, she was in the process of crafting an album and optimistically projected concerts for 2024 and 2025.
