Cardi is reported to be facing battery charges after she threw a microphone at the crowd during a performance in Las Vegas last weekend. The move was an instinctive response to a fan who splashed the rapper with water onstage while performing.
However, despite conflicting reports and perspectives, the fan who had the cup seemed to have done it by accident. But, Cardi B had already thrown the microphone, which hit two people, the thrower and the person behind her.
Cardi B Facing Battery Charges
In a Variety report, it was revealed that the Las Vegas Metro Police Department confirmed that a batter had been reported by a woman a day after the Cardi B microphone incident.
"On July 30, 2023, an individual came into an LVMPD police station to report a battery," the police department said in a statement. "According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. During a concert, she was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage."
According to TMZ, the person who filed the case was in fact the person beside the cup thrower.
In the now-viral video of the altercation, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, seemed to throw her microphone at the same person who splashed her with the liquid. However, from another angle, it can be seen that the microphone landed on the person beside her in a huge direct blow, before ricocheting on the original thrower. In the same video, the original thrower was heard and seen apologizing profusely as it seemed like an accident.

Page Six sources revealed that the women adjacent to the thrower sought the cop's help and will be launching an investigation.
Variety, however, reported that there were no citations or arrests made yet. As of this writing, Cardi B's team has not yet responded nor addressed the issue.
Cardi B Lipsyncing?
As Cardi B was splashed with a liquid mid-performance, everyone was fixated on the altercation in the now-viral video.
However, many fans seemed to spot that Cardi B was indeed lipsyncing through the song as the audio track was left playing while she was heated up after throwing the microphone to the camera.
