Queensrÿche frontman Todd La Torre embraced a new lifestyle after being a cigarette smoker for three decades.

Several musicians have been open about the negative effects of their smoking habits, including Corey Taylor, Phil Anselmo, and Paul Di'Anno. They all said that it affected their voices - but things are different on La Torre's part.

Queensrÿche Singer Todd La Torre Gives Up Nicotine

La Torre recently surprised fans as a smoker for three decades by revealing he had kicked nicotine out of his system for more than seven months.

Speaking with Mark Sugiyama of Eclectic Arts Media, the 49-year-old rocker said he feels the same after giving up on smoking. However, he reportedly noticed a major change when it comes to finances as he started saving a lot of it for not buying packs of cigarettes over the past months.

Still, he revealed how he expects himself to smoke again as it is the "only thing" he ever did.

"I never say that I'm never gonna smoke again; I just say, 'Today... I'm not gonna have a cigarette today,'" he said. "And so I don't. And so if I just think of it as a day thing, then they add up into weeks and months and hopefully for the rest of my life."

Although he engaged himself in such a habit, La Torre did not have any other vices except cigarettes since he was 18.

How Todd La Torre Successfully Gave Up Smoking

Asked how he was able to say goodbye to his decades-old habit, La Torre said he used a vape to get the nicotine he needed.

Amid the band's tour with Judas Priest, he reportedly started to curb his craving until he only had his last pack of cigarettes.

Before his recent interview, he talked about his vice in an interview on the "Talk Louder" podcast in 2022, where he said his singing voice remains the same despite smoking for decades.

"I just performed 17 QUEENSRŸCHE songs in a row, which is - let's be honest - it's not easy stuff for people to sing, so it's a very vocally demanding thing," he went on.

Aside from his smoking addiction, the Queensrÿche singer also dealt with depression, exhaustion, and anxiety for years.
