Kelly Clarkson Makes a BIG Change for THIS Classic Song After Her Divorce From Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson has been known for her classic hits such as "Since U Been Gone," "Breakaway," "Stronger" and many more, and fans have already memorized most of her lyrics throughout her career.

However, during a recent show at her exclusive 10-date only residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, the pop star changed the lyrics of one of her most iconic songs to date after her divorce from her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

According to Billboard, the musician took the stage of the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Before belting out her classic song "Piece by Piece," originally released in 2015, the musician told her fans, that she initially wrote the song to be "super hopeful."

However, she added, "sometimes hopeful turns into hopeless, so here we go."

Kelly Clarkson Changes the Lyrics of 'Piece by Piece'

According to Entertainment Tonight, the "Kelly Clarkson Show" host sang the song with the new lyrics, replacing "I" with "he" instead.

"He never walks away / He never asks for money / He takes care of me / He loves me," with: "I just walk away / when they ask for money / I take care of me / 'cause I love me," she sang.

Per the outlet, the song was originally written about Clarkson's father who abandoned her and her family when she was younger.

Now that many years have passed and she underwent through a messy divorce proceedings, many people speculate that the lyric change was because of her husband.

Aside from the hit song, her new album titled "Chemistry" revolves around her separation from Brandon Blackstock, whom she shares two children with.

Kelly Clarkson 'Piece by Piece' Lyrics Meaning

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the "American Idol" winner said the song was a "very hopeful song."

At the time when she wrote it, she wasn't able to say everything that she wanted to tell a specific person at the time, that's why she brought all the emotions out on the song.

Further explaining the track, she noted that the song was about what she desired and hoped when she saw something in a person.

"It turns out I might not be singing that song again. It turns out that I maybe did marry into what I didn't want to do in the first place. So it's OK now," she added.
