Neyo is taking matters into his own hands as he recants his controversial comments about transitioning and parents letting their children choose their gender identity.

The recent transphobic and homophobic statements came from Ne-Yo's interview on the Gloria Velez Podcast via VladTV.

Ne-Yo Recants His Apology For Making Transphobic Remarks

In a recently shared video on Instagram, Ne-Yo quipped back with an unbothered response after the mountain of backlash he received online.

"My intention is never to offend anybody," he claimed. "However, I'm entitled to feel how I feel, the same way you are entitled to feel how you feel. I ain't ask nobody to follow me, I ain't ask nobody to agree with me; I was asked a question and I answered the d-n question."

Ne-Yo stood his ground on having such an opinion on gender transitioning and the idea of letting your kids choose what gender they want.

"I will definitely be educating myself a little bit more on this matter," he added. "However, I doubt that there is any book anywhere or any opinion that somebody's gonna tell me that's gonna make me OK with letting a child make a decision like that.

Ne-Yo Apology Came From His Publicist

As soon as his apology online started making waves, Ne-Yo uploaded the now-viral video of him. According to his video, people should hear it straight from the "horse's mouth, and not from a publicist's computer."

Obviously, his initial statement was carefully crafted from a PR standpoint by a publicist trying to reclaim the narrative.

"After much reflection, I'd like to express my deepest apologies to anyone that I may have hurt with my comments on parenting and gender identity," he said at the time. "Gender identity is nuanced and I can honestly admit that I plan to better educate myself on the topic, so I can approach future conversations with more empathy."

The apology came from his statements on the Gloria Velez podcast interview where he claimed he doesn't understand how parents let their children choose what gender they want as early as 5 years old.

"I just personally come from an era where a man was a man and a woman was a woman. And there was two genders and that's just how I rocked. You could identify as a goldfish if you feel like, that ain't my business, it becomes my business when you try to make me play the game. I'm not gonna call you a goldfish. I feel like parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is," he claimed.
