Many singers also become actors, and many actors also discover their paths in music. With such intertwined forms of entertainment, it is no wonder that many singers would want to cross the bridge.

For instance, Grammy-winning singer Steve Lacy. However, he has some reservations about taking an interest in acting.

Steve Lacy Wants To Try Acting

In an interview with Variety, Steve Lacy confessed that he wants to dabble in acting on the big screen.

According to the report, he has taken his shot at a movie after a casting agent asked him to send in a self-taped audition. However, Lacy also admitted that he's "scared" of the possible impacts of appearing on the big screen.

"I can go No. 1 and be on the radio and still go hang out," he noted. "If you go No. 1 on Netflix, you can't do nothing! Movie star fame is way different."

Lacy had been an underground artist for quite a long time. Conversations about him becoming a new artist in the 2020 decade emerged as his hit song "Bad Habits" and the chart-topping album "Gemini Rights," only achieved mainstream popularity in 2022 and 2023.

Notably, his debut album, "Apollo XXI" was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. At the same time, he was also featured on "Sunflower" by Vampire Weekend. Very recently, he was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for "Bad Habits."

Steve Lacy Doesn't Want To Be Famous

Elsewhere in the interview with Variety, it was suggested that Lacy is now "slowly embracing" a new level of being a celebrity, despite trying to shy away from the limelight for almost a decade already.

"I don't crave to be super famous, but I also try not to be afraid of that," he continued to say. "If that's where things want to go."

Unbeknownst to many, as early as 2016, Steve Lacy has already been nominated for a Grammy Award. He was part of the R&B Band The Internet. Their third studio album, "Ego Death" was nominated at the 2016 Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album, the same category where his "Apollo XXI" and "Gemini Rights" were nominated in the years after.
