Megan Thee Stallion is currently in the midst of a legal battle with her ex-label 1501 Certified Entertainment and executive Carl Crawford.
Adding to that, she has alleged that Kelsey Harris, who was once her best friend, has disregarded a summons requiring her to appear for a deposition and hand over personal texts between herself and Tory Lanez, according to Radar Online.
Since the beginning of 2020, a legal dispute between Megan and record label 1501 has been rocking the entertainment industry.
Megan has accused her label of not providing proper accounting for the income she makes from touring.
As a result, she has filed a lawsuit with claims that it is owed more than $1 million by her record label. Furthermore, the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper is asking the court to terminate her contract with 1501.
This year, the dispute between Megan and 1501/Carl is headed for trial.
Initially, several news reported that in response to 1501 and Carl's counter-sue claiming they were owed another album, Megan sought to depose two further individuals before preparing her case.
Furthermore, both parties are asking for a complete accounting of earnings from sponsorships and endorsements; 1501 asserts it should have a share of such profits.
Having been close with her ex-friend Kelsey until the Tory Lanez shooting incident, which resulted in a trial and with Tory being found guilty of the crime, the 28-year-old female rapper issued subpoenas to both Kelsey and her partner Darien Smith.
Unfortunately, Kelsey chose not to give evidence on behalf of the Kelsey; nevertheless, only a few weeks later Tory was convicted.
Megan expressed her claims against Darien, an executive at 1501, through legal documents. She argued that he was aware of the label's plans to hinder her projects.
According to the motion, Tory Lanez-the man responsible for [Megan]'s shooting-has been in a dubious alliance with the rap label 1501. Its CEO, Darien, is married to rapper Kelsey Harris whose song "Bussin Back" released on or around November 25th, 2022 contains verses like "Way [Megan] did 1501, should've knew I couldn't trust her", and "had I been the one with the gun you would have heard about a murder". These are clear attempts to insult and belittle [Megan].
Kelsey Harris' diss track was endorsed by 1501, according to what was stated in the motion.
It stipulated that Smith, being a senior executive of 1501 as well as Kelsey's husband, held knowledge related to the malicious campaign that 1501 had taken against Megan.
The legal documents uncovered that Megan Thee Stallion wanted Kelsey to testify about any affiliations she might possess with 1501, Carl, and Tory.
Additionally, Megan requested she present all communications shared between herself, Carl, and Tory regarding the matter.
Lastly, she sought an answer from Kelsey regarding whether or not 1501 gave sanction to her diss track.
Megan submitted a motion to the court, claiming that Kelsey had been served a subpoena during May but did not show up for the June 21 deposition. She implored the judge to take action and ensure Kelsey's attendance.
The document specified, "[Kelsey] played an essential role throughout their campaign."
In response to Megan's reported attack at the hands of Tory Lanez, her lawyer has stated that a group of Defendants has teamed up with Tory to harass, intimidate and defame Megan Thee Stallion.
Megan has requested that Kelsey be brought before the court and be held in contempt. This could result in ramifications, such as a financial penalty or legal imprisonment. At this time, no decision has been made by the presiding authority.
