Britney Spears Speaks Up on Divorce From Sam Asghari For the 1st Time: Cause of Split Revealed?

Britney Spears finally broke her silence following Sam Asghari's divorce filing.

Spears and Asghari called it quits after over a year of marriage, with the personal trainer citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for filing. After the estranged husband broke his silence on his Instagram Story, the singer released her first-ever statement to address the split.

On Instagram, Spears posted a video of herself while dancing to Janet Jackson's song, "If." She captioned the post with a message related to her split from the Iranian-American model, noting she could not take the pain anymore.

Per the "Oops... I Did It Again" hitmaker, she did not post it to explain what happened as it was none of the public's business. Still, she revealed how a little shocked she feels over the turn of events because she had been with Asghari for six years.

"I've been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that !!!" she continued. "I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I've always had to hide my weaknesses !!!"

Spears' statement followed Asghari's update in which he revealed that they both decided to end their marriage, though he still expressed his love and respect for her despite their divorce.

Sam Asghari Dropped Hint They Were Over Weeks Before Divorce Filing

While the filing was sudden, Daily Mail noted that Asghari showed a sign he and Spears were over two weeks before their split.

In his Instagram update on July 31, Asghari posted a photo of himself posing alongside his mother, Fatima, who suffered from a "major accident" recently. He showed his left hand ring finger sans ring as he wrapped his arm around the matriarch.

Amid their divorce, Spears and Asghari's divorce was also bombarded with allegations that the singer was unfaithful and that she physically abused him when he was sleeping. They reportedly started living separately after having a huge fight.

They started dating after meeting on the set of Spears' "Slumber Party" music video, where Asghari portrayed her on-screen love interest. They got engaged in September 2021 and wed in June 2022.
