An uproar from a well-known animal charity has come about after Taylor Swift fans took up an online trend linked to her song "August."

Due to immense popularity, the 33-year-old singer's "Eras" Tour tickets have quickly sold out, and now that same enthusiasm has been suddenly transferred to TikTok. Through a bizarre new trend, fans use their cats as props in videos inspired by her music.

Swifties worldwide have come together to proclaim their enthusiasm. They've been captured on video spinning their beloved pets up in the air and then sharing the clips online.

As Taylor's melodious vocals filled the air, people were seen holding their pets and twirling them around merrily. The scene was something out of a fairytale, as her song served as the perfect soundtrack to this adorable moment.

The recent trend of phone-strapping has been gaining momentum as more and more people affix their devices onto their heads with the camera feature running to capture their furry friends' reactions. At the same time, these furry friends soar through the air.

In a humorous display, one social media user included his tiny white kitten as part of the trend.

Beneath the video, viewers posted their reactions, one of them inquiring, "How can I do this with my English bulldog?"

Still, other animals, such as bulldogs, racoons and a tortoise, have also been included - much to their owners' surprise. Unfortunately, this has left animal welfare organization Cats Protection worried about the safety of these pets.

In a statement to Metro UK, Daniel Warren-Cummings, the Chief Behavior Officer, expressed that no animal should ever be subjected to feelings of fright, worry, irritability, or suffering for people's entertainment.

"Cats, in particular, will experience extreme stress by being swung or spun around, and it could even cause them physical harm."

He went on to say that the videos featured demonstrate that the cats are suffering from anxiety. Sadly, even though these cats are uncomfortable, people who claim to love them still describe their behavior as adorable or amusing.

The officer also added that the owners of the animals appear to be ignorant that felines do not experience emotions and actions in the same manner as humans. This lack of understanding is causing the cats distress and discomfort.

Noting the criminal implications, he noted that one should consider the ethical nature of causing a cat unnecessary suffering. Even for a brief experience, it is wrong to encourage it. The Animal Welfare Act 2006 makes this clear as an unlawful offense.
