Carlos Santana earned mixed reactions following his anti-trans remark at his concert.

The iconic guitarist visited Atlantic City, N.J., in July as part of his tour stops. A month after the show, a now-viral video divided the public as Santana made a controversial anti-trans remark.

Carlos Santana Earned Mixed Reactions

A YouTube user uploaded a video from the event and recorded Santana's full anti-trans message to his concertgoers.

"When God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are," he said. "Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain't right."

Santana then mentioned that there are only two genders, telling everyone he is okay with whatever business people do in the closet.

Following the emergence of the clip, the public offered different opinions, with some of them supporting the singer for "speaking the truth."

One said, "Now, who the hell asked Carlos Santana his opinion on trans rights? If you don't play that little riff from Maria Maria and keep it moving..."

"Supporting Carlos Santana today," another wrote. "I see the liberals coming after him for this speech at his concert."

"I didn't have Carlos Santana being an ignorant transphobic bigot on my BINGO card. What a shame," another posted.

During the same show, Santana gave Dave Chappelle a shoutout and revealed he is like that with his "brother." Chappelle has been notoriously known for his anti-trans comments in his stand-up shows.

Carlos Santana Clarifies Comment

A month after the show, Santana sent an exclusive statement to Billboard to clarify his comments, saying he aims to honor and respect people regardless of their gender.

Per the musician, he will pursue his goal to be "happy and have fun" as people have been given a "gift."

Santana's comment came after Alice Cooper also made a buzz after his interview with Stereogum. In the discussion, he called gender-affirming care a "fad" and said that the discussions in the trans community reached the point of absurdity.

The rocker has also slammed the woke thing and questioned the society for taking progressive language too far.

Dee Snider and Paul Stanley also spoke up about the related topic.
