Fresh from releasing his "Subtract (-)" album earlier this year, Ed Sheeran just revealed that he would be releasing a new album by the end of the third quarter of the year.

Since his debut album, Sheeran derived the name of the album titles from basic mathematical equations. But now that it's all exhausted up, Sheeran gave the name for the fifth album a fresh one.

According to a Variety report, Ed Sheeran's "Autumn Variations" will be produced by The Nationals' guitarist Aaron Dessner, who was also instrumental in producing tracks for Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift.

The publication noted that Sheeran might not be touring the album as he would be releasing the new album "Autumn Variations" a week after finishing his Mathematics World Tour at the Los Angeles SoFi Stadium on Sep. 23, 2023, as the album releases on Sep. 29, 2023.

Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran teased that the album "Subtract" has more songs than the actually released 23 songs, including the ones in the deluxe sets. However, one might think that he would be going back to that bag of unreleased songs, plucking out his favorite ones for this album.

However, in a press release of the album, that may not be the thing.

"Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded," he said. "When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on."

Sheeran said that this has inspired him to write songs from their perspectives, and some from his, as he tries to "capture" how they viewed the world back then.

"There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion," he described the songs from the album.

Talking about Dessner, Sheeran said that the guitarist-producer "captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do."
